"Hey young man? Your mom'n'dad? ...uh, sorry. OK, listen. The city's gonna fall. The resistance's fighting but the situation's pretty desperate. We're gonna join'em and put a stop to the enemy forces, so you go'n'escape. Over there's the evacuees, you join'em understand? OK, good. Now listen carefully. I know how you feel, but you gotta survive. Live, and be a strong man, so that someday you can protect your most loving. Got it? Okay, we gotta go...so, young man, talk to you later."

They disappeared in the flames, never did I see them again.
A woman later told me, "Maybe they were just mercenaries, and would have got out after a skirmish." No, they didn't. I can tell his dignified tone of voice and divine aura that young winged lady wore. They would have died in the fight rather than dishonestly ran away. ...no, again. He said to me "Talk to you later." I believe they managed to survive.

Twenty years have passed and I had my 26th birthday yesterday with my wife and my kids.
